A Shared Need for a Greater Meaning.
For thousands of years, human cultures have imagined, in one form or another, a god, a higher spirit, or a deity to connect with and pray to — a belief in an authority figure, a higher being that feeds into and satisfies our very being.
This fascination with a higher supreme life force dates back to when humans began recording their time on Earth, dating back 45,000 years. We know this through rock carvings and paintings found in all parts of the world, symbolizing almost identical themes, whether they be demons to be feared or spirits to be prayed to in hopes of protection or receiving a bountiful harvest.
What’s intriguing about this is that we discovered different cultures, separated by oceans, mountain ranges, and areas accessible only to the local community, never having seen each other, never having explored each other's lands; yet all have built similar effigies and structures in honor of this innate need.
So, a fair question to ask is: where did this in-born need within humans come from?
It might be that this insatiable drive from our unconscious indicates that somewhere within us, we are actually attuned, or even sensitive to a higher life force, and that part of us yearns to be satisfied.
Just as food satisfies our physical need for nutrition, perhaps connecting with a higher energy force might satisfy our spirit or our soul at some level.
What if it isn’t just 'the spirit world' we are drawn to, but part of us is also sensitive to Earth’s energy fields, from which all life on Earth draws?
It might be that this part of us, the part that craves a sense of connection with the energy of Earth, is becoming increasingly disconnected through urban living.
These natural energy fields influence all life on Earth, from birds and insects to fish and plants. Thus, it is a valid question to ask: what impact is being disconnected from Earth’s energy having on us?
What effect is this disconnection having on our emotional and physical health?
Is this causing us to feel disconnected or separated from our whole self?
